In our Voters Service role, we present unbiased, nonpartisan information about elections, the voting process, and issues on the ballot.

Statewide Direct Primary Election (Non-Presidential)

DATE EVENT
Fri, Mar. 7 Last day for candidates to file (extended: Mar. 12)
Fri, Apr 4 Overseas citizens or military can apply for special absentee ballot
Mon, May 5 First day to apply for absentee voter ballot by mail
Tue, May 13 Last day for state to mail Voter Pamphlet
Tue, May 13 Last day for counties to mail Sample Ballot
Mon, May 19 Last day to register to vote (for June 3)
Tue, May 20 Last day for candidates to file for write-in
Tue, May 27 Last day to apply for absentee voter ballot by mail
Tue, June 3

ELECTION DAY
   Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
   Go to Smart Voter to find your polling location and info about contests (as available)

The General Election is Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
Last Day to Register to Vote in election is Monday, October 20.
